Mini, midi or maxi: which length for which occasion

Burgundy Sequin Mini and Red Halter Maxi on a city corner at golden hour

A mini ends above the knee, a midi ends between the knee and the ankle, usually at mid-calf, and a maxi reaches the ankle or the floor. Choose a maxi for weddings, formal nights and the races, a mini for parties and cocktail evenings, and a midi when you want something in between.

What is the difference between midi and maxi?

Length. A midi stops between the knee and the ankle; a maxi goes to the ankle or the floor. A maxi reads more formal, a midi more daytime.

Which length for a wedding?

A maxi for an evening, formal or black tie wedding; a midi or maxi for a daytime garden wedding.

Which length for the races?

Any length, as long as the shape holds all day. Full length for a polished look, a mini for Derby Day or the after-party.

Which length for a party or a birthday?

A mini. It moves with you on the dance floor and works with heels or flats.

Which Shestia dresses come in which length?

Our first edit has three maxis, the Red Halter Maxi, the Navy Neck Maxi and the Butter Yellow Bustier Maxi, and two minis, the Burgundy Draped Mini and the Burgundy Sequin Mini. We have no midi yet. Browse maxi dresses or mini dresses.
